Power Trip
Power Trip
Power Trip are a crossover thrash metal band from Dallas, Texas. Their sound -- an inseparable mix of hardcore punk, speed, and death metal -- was informed by the sounds of the Cro-Mags, Vio-Lence, Nuclear Assault, and Leeway, and draws fans from across the extreme music spectrum.

The band began as a five-piece in Dallas, Texas in 2008. Their initial lineup consisted of bassist Chris Whetzel, drummer Marcus, vocalist Riley Gale, and guitarists Blake "Rossover" Ibanez, and Nicky "Thrasher" Stewart. They released a collection of five demos that same year. In 2009 Marcus left and was eventually replaced by veteran Chris Ulsh (Hatred Surge, Mammoth Grinder, the Impalers). They released a four-song EP entitled Armageddon Blues. They also began touring, first throughout Texas, then the Southwest and California, and then nationally. Usually, in addition to the band and their gear, an extended voluntary entourage would travel with them -- often in the same van -- to help with hauling gear, working the merchandise table and the box office, etc. After non-stop touring for nearly a year, and a well-deserved break (in which Ibanez went away to school), Power Trip recorded a self-titled three-song EP, which was released in 2011, before more touring, including an appearance at the 2012 Pitchfork Music Festival.

Manifest Decimation In 2013, PT signed with Southern Lord, and made a splash with their showcase at SXSW. They commenced recording their debut full-length with veteran producer and mixing engineer Arthur Rizik. The album was released in June of that year as Manifest Decimation, with a sleeve design by legendary heavy metal artist Paolo Girardi.
Bitter End

Bitter End are an intense hardcore band from San Antonio, Texas, influenced by the metallic New York Hardcore bands of the late 80's and early 90's
Orthodox
Orthodox
Originating from Seville in southern Spain, Orthodox is an avant-garde doom metal band who add strong free jazz-tinged influences to their essential metal sound, founded on hypnotic repetition of quasi-mystical intensity and slow, torpid rhythms befitting people from a city of crushing summer heat.

Seville itself has had other strong influences on the band: they started out performing in the hooded robes of the Sevillian penitential brotherhoods (although they now dress more conventionally) and they have talked of the annual Semana Santa procession in the city as a source of inspiration for their music (‘Ofícío de Tinieblas’ from their debut album 'Gran Poder' relates to a Semana Santa tradition, for instance).

Orthodox's second album saw them extending the doom metal basis of their debut with the addition of clarinets and trumpets, causing comparisons to be made to King Crimson and Captain Beefheart, while the following album, 'Sentencia', dispensed with guitars almost completely in favour of piano, trumpet and upright bass on the 26-minute track 'Ascensión'. The centrality of doom metal to the band has, however, been re-emphasised by 'Baal', their album from 2011.

Orthodox releases have been issued by the cult US label Southern Lord but they are signed to the Spanish label Alone Records, based in Malaga.
